Tanya Cordrey’s speech at the Guardian Changing Media Summit | guardian.co.uk

26 Mar

As the first open graph apps have been around since September 2011, I am eager to find as many results as possible from these first examples. The Guardian´s Facebook app was amongst the first ones being on-line after Facebook´s developer conference f8 back in September 2011.

Here are some very interesting user numbers from The Guardian´s Facebook application and a quotation from Tanya Cordrey, director of digital development, Guardian News & Media, made just a few days ago:

“Firstly, we have been blown away by the results. In just five months, 8 million people have downloaded the app. Around 40,000 people are signing up every day. And once people have the app, they use it. In the past four weeks, more than four million people have used the app, many of them reading our content several times a day.

But it is not Facebook app users alone that are engaging with our journalism. In the same period, over 8 million uniques came from Facebook directly to the Guardian.”
